My office orders from Dough at least once a week. I'm a big byo lunch person, but occasionally I partake in ordering lunch. Never actually been to the restaurant, but their delivery guy is always prompt. Well, I really like their Curry Chicken Salad. It's almost as good as my mum's, and I really like the bread they serve it on (it's a braided loaf). Their Hawaiian pizza is also fantastic. I love that it's with prosciutto instead of regular old ham. And one time, I ordered a big sandwich platter for a meeting we had and those were good too. They provided chips and drinks too. Ultimately, I've never been disappointed. They have a huge menu with a lot of tantalizing options. I definitely need to try their orchard pizza, vermonter sandwich, and their calzones one of these days...mmm

Dough is sandwich crack, and I quickly became a junkie living around the corner from this place. French dip sandwiches smothered in dipping sauce. The Vermonter (turkey, apple, gouda, bacon, mayo..) would have like last-meal-alive status if your thing is sandwiches. There is something about Dough... the sandwiches they make are the classics, but they bring the flavors together in f*-yeah goodness. Gotta love the Phish-loving proprietors. And if you are offered the chocolate-loaded chocolate chip cookies straight off the baking sheet, don't refuse!

Don't let the three stars fool you. The food at Dough is creative and tasty, and priced right. And the owners/employees are really friendly. My fiancee and I were on a big Dough pizza kick for a while (the Hawaiian with shaved pineapple and prosciutto or the orchard topped with bacon and finished with crisp green apples-yum). My current fave is the Vermonter sandwich. The thing that keeps Dough from top marks is their hours of operation. They are always closed on Sundays. For some reason, I unconsciously want their food on Sundays, but I have learned to deal with it. Also, they close pretty early at 9 pm. But what really confuses me is that they are often closed on Saturdays as well. Lately, it seems like every few months, they'll shut down for a few Saturdays in a row. As much as I like the food, it is rare that my cravings match their operating hours. I wish it weren't so, because I'd love to get their food more often since I live nearby.

While I haven't had their pizza (I prefer to make my own), their sandwiches are amazing. My husband happens to be a huge sandwich fan, and has always been disappointed that Boston doesn't have a great, cheap, sandwich place. Well now his prayers seem to have been answered. The sandwiches at Dough are nothing short of amazing, and are really affordable. The guys who work there are also incredibly friendly, and make me really excited about the sandwiches I have ordered, because they are so friendly. Only con is that they don't deliver to Chelsea, but if that's the least of my worries then I'm still doing pretty well.

Thanks to Carrie E. for enlightening me about this wonderful Eastie find. While looking for a new spot to hit up this evening, I remembered her review about the tofu reuben, which I knew the boy would LOVE, so we decided to venture on over to Dough. It appears to be a normal neighborhood pizza joint from the outside, but alas, looks can be deceiving. Their menu boasts a ton of options in the sandwich, pizza, pasta, calzone, and stromboli columns, many of which are things not normally found at any old pizza joint. Take the tofu reuben, for example. Lovingly referred to as the "Hippie" on the menu, it features marbled bread grilled and filled with tofu, sauerkraut, and Russian dressing - certainly a novel find for any vegetarian. So the boy ordered that and a cup of minestrone soup, and I ordered a veggie calzone filled with roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, kalamata olives, etc. We played Connect Four while we waited for our food to come out. When we got our food, the boy devoured his sandwich, thoroughly enjoying every bite despite the messy remnants it left behind on his hands. He also loved the soup. My calzone was great too, though extremely difficult to cut with plastic utensils. It was so huge that I have enough leftovers to last me several lunches. We washed our meals down with some seltzer water and a chocolate chip cookie. Tasty. The guy working (I think he was the owner) was super nice and friendly. They also had good music playing while we were there, which was certainly a nice departure from the typical reggaeton generally heard in that neighborhood. I'm glad to have found this wonderful little place, and we'll be adding it to our short list of good, cheap places to hit up on weeknights when we're too tired to cook and do dishes.

Ode to Dough. If find it ironic that you sometimes run out of your essential namesake. You close far too early for anyone under the age of 80. And you're not open on Sunday when I often crave your nourishing fare... But alas - I fault you not. Your crust is thin and delicious, your sandwiches are least meal inspiring and your homemade soups make me wanna take a bath in that little cup. You are quite possibly - the perfect pizza place. Your unorthodox white Hawaiian is a thing of beauty with coconut, prosciutto and pineapple. Your Z-berg a tangy delight. And I stopped making fun of the British for putting corn on their pizza after I tried your BBQ chicken. I dream of your Vermonster sandwich (apples and bacon - an unlikely but blissful pair) and your roast beef creations are delightful. The farmer dip is not just veggie sandwich and those boneless buffalo wings often ruin my dinner for all the gorging they inspire. From french onion to Guinness chili - you put other soups to shame. And those pickles aren't too shabby either... I am convinced that many of our friends only visit us for a taste of Dough. While I wish you would deliver just a tad later, I have rearranged my schedule to accommodate yours and I am never sorry I did.

I felt like I needed a shower after eating this pizza. Just a bit much. I was surprised that I didn't enjoy the pizza; I thought the 4-star review would solidify this place as a bomb pizza joint. I just was not feeling it. The crust was too chewy for me, I felt like I was eating an overcooked steak. Coconut on the Hawaian pizza? Oh no, just no. I did enjoy the sauce on the cheese pizza and it was greasy enough to get a thumbs up, but I cannot forget the awful texture of the dough and the coconut. I just can't.

Nostalgia Post. "Dough East Boston!" I can still hear Kevin or Michael's voice on the other line, ready to take my order. The two years I lived around Maverick were some of my happiest. Four items make me think I will never have a neigborhood joint so good. Curry Chicken Salad Sandwich. Until Dough, I was a curry purist. Perhaps it's my Southeast Asian roots that scoffed at the idea of curried salads let alone the addition of grapes. I was so wrong to pre-judge this sandwich. The grapes really perked up the mayo like no other. I still remember the disappointment I'd feel if the guys told me they'd run out of chicken salad for the day. So sad. Guinness Chili - Oh what a treat. On days this chili was available, I'd bring my own empty Ziploc Twist n Loc container for the guys to fill-up. That way I'd already have an amazing lunch to look forward to the next day. Chicken Caesar Salad Pizza & The Orchard Pizza. My appreciation for fruit and salad on a pizza lives on because of these creations. Hail to the chefs!

I LOVE YOU, DOUGH!!! But you know that already. You recognize my voice when I call- which, admittedly, is a lot! I know, I know, you need space. I get that. Which is why I don't mind waiting 45 minutes for my delicious Z-berg pizza (caramelized onions AND prosciutto?! Yes, please). Every sandwich you make is amazing... From Randy's Roast Beef to Cajun Chicken to the French Dip- you know just what I like! Please don't ever change- unless it's to make my delivery faster!

As many have noted the Vermonter sand-which is an absolute gem, an original take on a turkey sand which that is fantastic. I also like the cranberry salad and the pizzas are pretty good- they have a medium size crust but it is nice and crunchy and they have some good toppings to choose from. My only issues are with the hours of operations and the delivery is pretty spotty- closed on Sunday and open at 1pm on Saturday. I have had things delivered in less then a half an hour but many other times it took well over an hour (I live very close to Dough). Overall this is a very good choice, they are fancier then your average delivery place for subs/pizza and the value is pretty good overall

I was hoping to really enjoy the pizza at dough, but did not. My boyfriend and I ordered the Chicken Caesar Pizza and a Cheese Pizza. The chicken was just lettuce with some diced chicken, no caeser dressing and the Cheese pizza was so bland. Will not order pizza again. Will give it another try with their sandwiches though as I haven't had that yet.

LOVE dough pizza. They deliver for free and have GREAT food. I have tried their pasta, sandwiches, and pizza. I love the vermonter, (it's a HUGE sandwich), but you should get it with regular mayo. I'm excited to try the orchard pizza next. The Greek pasta is also great!

Aww yeah, Maverick Square's looking pretty good for pizza these days, but since Dough's the closest to my apartment, takes credit cards and actually has a decently-appointed waiting area, it's by far my favorite option. I could go on about the things people have already covered here -- the sandwiches, mostly -- but for me, this place is tops for one main reason: The dough. (Duh.) While we could sit here and debate the merits of proper crust cooking (thin-crust or poofy-edged? Bubbly or bready? What the heck's a cornicione anyway?) for days, let's get one thing clear: you can go a long way toward quieting any stylistic haters by simply making sure your crust actually tastes good. Dough's the one pie joint I can think of that actually goes the distance to make sure their bready bits have a distinct flavor: so perfectly seasoned, with a heady, almost beery yeastiness that is currently making my mouth water just thinking about it. The result is a pretty fantastic pizza, but if you want to get the full effect, get yourself one of Dough's calzones (specifically the chicken parm, if I had to pick -- avoids the heavy-handed breading that sinks lesser such offerings from elsewhere): the pillowy outside edge not only, you know, keeps the calzone together, but doubles as the best breadstick you've ever had once you come to the end of the filling. Bottom of the line? Dough's dough is dope. Do it.

I have tried only one item on their menu and it was pretty darn good: The Vermonter. The menu even notes that one must wait in patience for the preparation of this sandwich which consists of turkey, gouda, bacon, apple slices, onion, and mayo, all baked in an oven on a thick slice of bread. The rest of their menu seems to be a mix of standard fare (sandwiches, pizzas, salad) with some gourmet twists. It's a nice change from the rest of sub/pizza shops in the area and I'll definitely head back to try the Cuban Reuben which I heard is delish.

If you want something that was prepared with care ....you knead dough :) Every time I go to this little shop in Eastie the service and care are as genuine as their ingredients. If you like pizza and wings get the wing pizza. If you like sandwiches get the Chicken Little, or the Border St. Special

For a place named "Dough" you would think the pizza would be good. Unfortunately it's not true. The pizza at this place is absolutely terrible. I would recommend Domino's over this joint. If you want pizza in Eastie there is no other place than Santarpio's. This place gets my 2-star rating only because of their sandwich selection. It is extensive and good. They have a few different panini's that sound delicious. I've only tried the cuban, and I was pleasantly surprised.

Not Just Another Sandwich Joint Dough is an affordable eatery with many items you don't see at everyday sandwich shops. They have things from The Cuban sandwich to Veggie Burgers. I tried the Veggie Burger and it wasn't like any veggie burger I got anywhere else. With honey mustard and swiss cheese it was up there with the veggie burgers I've had. I recommend this place to anyone that likes good food at an affordable price.

Living a 30 second walk away from this place was so bad for my waistline. This pizza is fantastic and I have zero complaints on the food. My favorite is the pesto pizza, I'm a sucker for pesto and theirs is the perfect blend of flavors. All of the pizzas here have a really great crust and in my opinion the perfect cheese:sauce ratio! Also- the roast beef sandwiches are to die for. A nice kick to them and lots and lots of red peppers on top. YUM! The place itself is tiny- I usually opt for takeout or delivery if I am especially lazy. However, my complaint comes in here- the service is slow. I get it, they make it to order, but delivery takes crazy long. Definitely opt for takeout if you can.

Since moving out of the hub, it has been a real effort to find a place that offers quality takeout at really good prices- and then there was Dough. The staff are super friendly, and really take pride in the food that they make. My fiance and I elicit their services at least once per week- and would eat there more if not for the hard-to-reach location (at least from where we live). Our favorites include the amazing Hawaiian pizza. Like no other, this pizza is white, has shreds of coconut and prosciutto, and lots of pineapple. The sandwiches are superb- my fiance enjoys the Vermonter, and the Cuban Reuben, as well as the chicken cheese steak. I like the Farmer Dip (vegetarian), the tuna melt and the meatball sub. The veggie burgers are also pretty good, however, something about the taste is funny. This place is worth coming the distance for, however, don't expect a dining-in atmosphere. A few tables is all they have, so take your yum-yums home, get a good movie and enjoy. Caveat: they aren't open sundays, and are supposed to be in the process of getting a permit for it, so call before if you want dough on a sunday. We usually space out, call to order, and then realize the heartbreaking reality- no dough on sundays.

This place gets 5*s! Right next to my office(in fact they have a pizza named after our business! My standard order: 2 slices of pizza and a chocolate chip cookie. yum yum. Their pizza is excellent..and always huge. Their unique sandiwch creations are also cool. And as a previous poster said, the pickle offer is great. BTW: I always win at connect 4.

Tried the Cubano. I'm still looking for the Miami version that I still drool over; this wasn't it. It was great for about halfway, and then started losing flavor, and was a bit dry at the ends. It has a citrusy marinade in the pork that was pretty subtle. I would have liked more pickles. For $7, a big sandwich. Looking forward to trying more, I keep hearing how great this place is.

This is a great place to order lunch or dinner. Everyone who works here is very friendly. I'm a huge fan of their pizzas - In fact (and I know this is going to be heresy to some in East Boston), I think their pizza is even better than Santarpios. I am particularly fond of their wide selection of Rubens - my favorite is the Rachel. But the real hidden gem of their menu is the garlic bread: a toasted roll, sliced in half with garlic and onions. We normally just order a small, but half the time they end up giving us a large just because. We'd order from them even if we didn't live in the neighborhood!

I'm a sucker for pizza with mushrooms, onions, green pepper, sausage and pepperoni so when I saw on Dough's menu that their Saturday Night Special included exactly those things I was, needless to say, thrilled. The only thing different is that in addition to all the tasty above, it also includes slices of fresh tomatoes. I've not yet actually eaten at the restaurant, but their take-out service was pretty great. The pizza arrived on time and was fresh and hot. It was love at first bite; fresh, savory toppings and perfect crust. So fantastic that I ordered it TWICE during the first week the boy and I moved here. On the menu, Dough's also got some other delicious looking options besides pizza, including calzones, stromboli, sandwiches, various apps like wings, fries, onion rings and cheesesticks, as well as salads and reubens. Will be ordering from here again next time the craving for pizza strikes.

So I was going to wait to write this review, as I've only been once. It totally has potential for five stars. Reason why? They have a TOFU REUBEN! I'm a sucker for reubens, but it's not too easy to come by a veggie one. They call theirs the Hippy, which is funny since this is two reviews in a row for me with hippy references. Anyway... The boy and I each ordered one and a small order of fries (which was not small at all). The sandwiches were delicious, and we easily could have split one. Downside was that they did get soggy on the drive home, but that was to be expected. Next time we go we plan to eat there. Bonus was, as he was bagging up our order he asked if we wanted pickles with our sandwiches. I totally lit up light a little kid getting candy, pickles just make every sandwich even better. The menu looks fantastic, and while we were there I started making a list in my head of everything else I want to try at some point. This list includes their garlic bread which is made with roasted garlic and caramelized onions. Sounds like bad breath heaven to me. They were busy, but still managed to be super nice. We'll definitely be back to try the pizza, pasta, and of course another reuben. This could become a deadly addiction, but I think I'm ok with that.

The Good : Place has received alot of buzz in East Boston. Was featured on The Phantom Gourmet:, Menu has variety in menu . I always get one of their creative pizza toppings. The Bad : Although pizzas were very good and tasteful , Some toppings werent tasting right together . For price , might as well get some Santarpio's or even DaCoopa's. The Ugly : I ordered delivery a few times and this place either needs more ovens or more drivers. They simply take tooo long when ordering and in this recession businesses need all the customers they can get so...step ur delivery game Dough. Fantastic! This place is a neighborhood gem. We saw it featured on Phantom Gourmet as a "hidden jewel" and couldn't wait to try it out. It's a small place with a few tables for dining. The staff is super friendly and go the extra mile. They quote you longer then expected when you call in an order but they really do put the extra time into making your food. They have a broad menu with specialty pizza, sandwiches, pasta, and salads. My boyfriend and I have been in several times and have tried the following items: Cheese pizza: Good sauce and chese. Thin and crispy crust. Gobbler: Turkey sandwich with stuffing, and cranberry mayo on multigrain bread. Really good. It was enormous too. After eating just one half I was full. Like Thanksgiving in a sandwich. Chicken Casear salad: Excellent, nicely marinated grilled chicken topping a creamy salad with croutons. Steak and Cheese: All I will say it was the best steak and cheese I've ever had! Chicken cutlet sandwich: Tasty. Got it with lettuce, tomato and provolone and mayo. Border Street Special: Just enough meat in the sandwich to make it manageable to eat. Good flavor, could of been a little bit more moist. Cajun Chicken Cheesesteak: This was the "dish worth driving to Phantom recommended". Really liked it. Very flavorful. The roasted red peppers were a great addition. It was was also wonderful to see huge chocolate chip chunk cookies freshly baked in the back. I had to get one for dessert and they were YUMMY!! Keep up the great work Dough!

OK so I live in East Boston and my choices are limited. That said, I'm glad I know how to cook cause ordering here more than once a month would suck. They have all the staples, while they're edible I'm never really satisfied with what I bring home. My roommate orders their pizzas all the time and I'll admit they're pretty good, but the sandwiches leave something to be desired. Also, and this is a big issue with me: the buffalo tenders have this weird crunchy skin on the outside that I pick off because it makes me gag. I'm still exploring the menu to find something that I like since the only other sub place is pizza shuttle and avoiding that hassle would be worth it for decent food.

I am a huge fan of Dough. We drive miles for Dough sandwiches (if I lived nearby it would be dangerous). Go with many people so you can order different sandwiches, all that I have tried are fantastic. My husband had the Vermonter last week and thought it was unbelievably good. Alas, I wasn't with him. Haven't had a bad sandwich yet. And don't worry about waiting for food, it is truly worth the wait and playing Connect Four is always fun.

Great sandwiches and amazing cookies. This place is a real hidden gem in East Boston. After living downtown for years I missed all the great food in the North End but was stoked to find this place. They have gourmet sandwiches without the gourmet prices, and their chocolate chip cookies can't be beat, seriously. The atmosphere is plain, but you can see straight through to the kitchen and you'll always be greeted by one of the two owners. If you're getting takeout, there's a great park to eat your sandwich or pizza a block away with fantastic city views. The menu is extensive with pizza, pasta, subs and calzones. You can't go wrong with any of their subs. Get the Stockyard, the Gobbler, or their Pastrami (if they have it) and you'll be hooked. Not only is the food good but the owners are friendly and local. You know the place is good when you see the mix of clientele from police officers, and yuppies to construction workers and the elderly. My only complaint (and I eat there about three times a week) is that the temperature of the place is either boiling hot or freezing cold - there doesn't seem to be an in between. So wear a sweater with a t-shirt underneath and you'll have nothing to worry about.

Living in East Boston and around the corner from Santarpio's you wouldnt think I would venture out to another pizza place. I visited this place a couple of months back with the bf to try out their pizza since it has been getting good reviews. We ordered the Saturday Night Special pizza on our first go around and it was pretty good, although to many toppings for a not so thick crust it was a bit messy but definitely tasty. Alot of their pizzas are made with the chunky tomato sauce which we do not like at all so thankfuly we found that the Saturday Night Special uses traditional red sauce. And also you can ask them to use the traditional red sauce on any of their pizzas just request it! One night the bf and I decided to order subs so we thought to give these guys a try as well. I decided to call in the order cause there wait is a bit long so figured call it in get it quicker! Well as I called in no one answered the phone after it ringing like 20 times. I called back about 6 times until someone finally answered and then I was put on hold becaues he was helping a customer out that was in store (I could hear him on the phone). Well as I was put on hold, I was forgotten about and I waited on the phone for about 5 minutes thinking ok they are just busy but no I was seriously forgotten about! I hung up and called back again and mentioned that I was put on hold for a ridiculous amount of time and that they forgot I was on hold which the guy apologized but was not very sincere about it. I ordered my subs and went to pick them up which I got a free 2 liter soda out of it since he forgot about me! The subs were good I really forgot what we got but they were definitely tasty! I would go back here again but I would watch out with the attitude on one of the guys who is the owner (he is the shorter one) because the couple of times I have been inside he gave this wierd attitude which rubbed me the wrong way.

A Homeric D'oh! for my delay in finding this temple to the sandwich. I have just devoured 1/2 each of a Cuban and a "Boy Blue" (please don't make me say it again) and think I have had one of my favorite sandwiches (the 'Blue Boy') in 45+ years of metro Boston knoshing. I also enjoyed the 'Vermonter' sandwich on another visit. They have an extensive selection of sandwich choices and pizza too (have yet to try). Other reviewers have had some delivery problems. I'd only ever tried their pizza at a function at the Atlantic Works Gallery - it was delicious! We both ordered The Vermonter, adding lettuce and tomato. This sandwich was awesome - maple turkey, crispy crumbled bacon, green apple, smoked gouda, sun dried tomato mayo, on multi grain bread. These sandwiches were HUGE! We each ate half and saved the rest for later. The sandwiches each came with a dill pickle, and 4 meals for about $15 is a steal. (Half today, half tomorrow!) The only drawback is that we wanted a bag of pretzels and they only had a small selection of small bags of chips. Fortunately there's a Shaw's nearby. I'll admit, I didn't ask if they had any in the back; I like to see what's available and pick my own. I'll be back to try their pizza again, and the pasta meals and salads also look good.

This place is a joke. Do NOT get delivery from here. I got a delivery today and - apart from it taking ages to get here (and being cold when it did) - they forgot half my lunch. That happens, you say. Yes - of course it does. But here's the best part. When I called up to tell them, they said their delivery guy is not coming out here again, so they would "owe" me the food they forgot????? WTF - Are these guys thiefs - or just plain terrible business people? DO NOT GET DELIVERY HERE.

Dough has great sandwiches and salads for lunch. You can eat in, but it's usually a little nuts-loud music-and there's only a few tables, but it's kinda fun. You can play Connect Four if you want! The Vermonter and the turkey gobbler are delicious. They take some time to make sandwiches, maybe just because they're busy, so if you can call ahead, that's ideal. And if you get delivery, check to make sure have salad dressing, as they often forget that.

Initial Review*** I feel like I am becoming the angry reviewer. Again another place that I am just...generally unimpressed. I got take-out tonight because I was psyched to find something in Eastie that wasn't Latin food and delivers. Woohoo. Anyway, I ordered buffalo fingers and a proscuitto calzone. I have this sick obsession with finding the perfect buffalo wing so I always get them and if it wasn't going to kill me I would eat proscuitto at every meal. So the lady on the phone was super nice and the delivery was fast and efficient. I open my buffalo fingers and by appearance they look fantastic but alas, they are not. The first bite was like biting into a piece of wax fruit. You don't realize they are all looks until you sink your teeth in. Overcooked and not even spicy. So so wrong. The proscuitto calzone is half an inch thick. The crust looks like that dough that they make with whole wheat flower and it is all grainy and won't rise hardly at all. Then you keep eating it trying to convince yourself it is good because it is "healthier". All in all. I didn't get my buffalo fix or my pizza fix and I still consumed a LOT of calories. That sucks.

Love this place. Great food, huge menu, friendly staff. I think they have some of the best sandwiches around. My personal faves are the Vermonter (awesome!), the Cajun Chicken Cheese Steak, and the Curry Chicken Salad. All very tasty with fresh ingredients. The pizza is good too and they've got some pretty creative pies that you don't see at every pizza joint. I like the Z-Berg - prosciutto and carmelized onions...can't go wrong. They've also got a handful of vegetarian options which is nice if you're into that sort of thing...

I'm actually shocked to see any sub-par reviews of Dough! You can't go wrong at this place. They do take a little while on delivery, but it's worth the wait. We order from Dough approx twice a month since it opened, lots of "crave-worthy" dishes. I recommend this place to lots of people and almost everyone has gotten back to me with thanks for pointing them in the direction of Dough. (for secret, non-menu item...ask for the pterodactyl wings....spicy and sweet, very good!)

This place is awesome. I moved to East Boston a few months ago and picked up their menu from the check-out counter at Kappy's. They deliver, so I had to try it. My roommate and I each ordered a different sandwich and they were both amazing. I've been back plenty of times since then (about twice a week) and have now tried most everything on the menu. EVERYTHING IS GOOD. This is a great place to go sit down for a quick lunch too. They play good music, the staff is pretty cool, and the best part... you can play connect four while you wait for your food!!

Yet another neighborhood secret in East Boston. Dough is a pizza shop that's tucked in behind the old Maverick projects (which have been redeveloped into fancier mixed-income housing), but it's special. The guys make everything with Boars Head meats and top notch ingredients, and they've put their own spin on pizza pie and sandwiches. Here, you can get a white pizza with chicken, green apples, bacon, and carmelized onions. Or a buffalo chicken wing and blue cheese pizza. Or what looks like a normal cheese pizza, but which has these little shreds of some type of cheese that's just pungent enough to make you order a second slice. It's also worth checking out their dippers -- they make sandwiches that come with strange dipping sauces like rosemary au jus. And the owners have fun, too -- just try not to stop by when they're singing out loud, because they don't carry a tune well. Can you tell that I like this place?

Looking for a small place to be a regular, look no further. Dough is my number 1 place in Eastie. I went through a faze where I ordered delivery from here so much they knew my order by my voice. The Vermonter is my favorite. The salads are also tasty and very large. If you stop by make sure to ask about their smores cookies, they're life changing. The owners are really cool and laid back. Their is a new cashier, shes the only woman there I believe, shes not the nicest but if you order quick and know what you're getting she's not too bad. You cant go wrong with this menu. My boyfriend and his friends try new sandwiches on every visit and have yet to be disappointed. I also recommend the sweet potato fries, they come with this spicy sauce that's delicious.

I arrived at the airport only to find my flight had been delayed an hour. Instead of eating some crappy overpriced airport food, my friend swept me away to Eastie to this awesome spot. The restaurant is in an odd spot, at the corner of kind of shady and kind of suburban. Upon entering, one of the owners at the register greeted us and started to tell us about the specials and some of the most popular items. Apparently they're known for their sandwiches (but the menu also has pastas, pizzas, salads). We ended up splitting the Vermonter and the Cajun Chicken Cheese Steak. Both were seriously great. The apples on the Vermonter were a nice touch and the spices on the Cajun Chicken really hit the spot. Sandwiches were priced well, and included chips and a pickle. Everything was really fresh too (apparently, they go out and buy fresh ingredients daily) If I hadn't just moved across the country I'd totally come back and sample the other like 20+ sandwiches on the menu. Also, it was great to that the owner was both present and super friendly.

I've had their reuben and special sandwich of the day. I wouldn't recommend ordering take out, as their bread tends to get soggy fast. Otherwise, they load them with meat and are satisfying. They are also really fast, so this is a good place to go grab a quick sandwich on the go. Also, there is a great view of the Boston skyline one block away.

I found this place by simply googling pizza places in east boston. The "something different" section on the menu stood out to me because everything seemed so unique and different. This particular night I ordered the Atta Boy Blue Sandwich, this was the most perfect sandwich I had ever had. It had turkey, bacon, caramelized onion, spinach, blue cheese dressing and cranberry mayo on multigrain and to top it off they press the sandwich. I love it!!! Warm and delicious. I also ordered the Hawaiian pizza only because there was a limit for delivery. I'm glad I did... I've had Hawaiian pizza before but never with the addition of coconut. It was different and delicious. Since then I've also ordered the: Vermonter Sandwich - delicious not sure if I can choose between it and atta boy blue as a fave. Cajun Chicken Cheese Steak- Phantom Gourmet's dish worth driving to- (my boyfriend had this... He loved it) Curry Chicken Salad Sandwich - good (Homemade) Veggie Burger - good Poutine Fries- delicious Fried Ravioli- good and the Backyard BBQ pizza- delicious So far I have yet to order anything I didn't like. As a matter of fact I'm going to look on the menu to see whats my next "something different" that I will order. The service is good and they are always polite over the phone. A couple of times it took a little bit longer than usual for my food to be delivered. But every time it was still warm and delicious so I can't even be mad because sometimes good things just take time and are worth the wait.

Time for a review of Dough. Finally moved on to the suburbs after 6 years in East Boston, and about the only other thing I'll miss about Eastie besides the commute is this place. It's run by two super-friendly guys, they always make you feel welcome. The thing I like most about Dough is that it's pretty innovative as far as a pizza and sub shop goes - actually I'd hesitate to even call it that. I like the pizza, but I loooooove the sandwiches. Every single one of them (trust me, I've had them all) is out of this world, plus they have daily specials that are creatively named, constructed, and delicious!! They even recently expanded the menu just a few weeks before we moved, and I was disappointed to not try all the new options. If you're in Eastie, or if you want something truly different and delicious check these guys out. Forget about dish worth driving to, these guys got a menu worth driving to.

The Vermonter turkey sandwich w Brie, Apple, sun dried tomato mayo and onion is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had in Boston and I've lived here my whole life. The Cajun chicken n cheese is delicious as well. The best part about this place for me is it's proximity to LoPresti park which has the best views of Boston hands down. You can get your sandwich and walk to the park and sit overlooking the Boston skyline and harbor. Don't forget to get the pickle with your sandwich and a homemade cookie.

I'm gonna start by saying the negatives about this place. First thing is that they're not open on Sundays. That kills me. Second is that I can see them from my apartment. I don't need that temptation in my life. But really, this place has really good sandwiches and okay pizza. They put prosciutto on their Italian subs and it's heavenly. Don't believe the hype! Santarpio's has all the high review's on here but Dough has established itself as the best pizza in East Boston, and among the best in the greater Boston area. Fresh dough, creative offerings and the owners seem like really good people. We always get the "Hi I'm Lyla" pizza.... olives, artichoke hearts, peppers, feta and other natural goodness. Also, don't sleep on their sandwiches.... the Vermonter is our family favorite. Turkey, cheddar, sun dried tomato, apple, bacon (an other natural goodness). Worth the trip from outside of Boston.

My first experience with Dough, great, loved it, and esp the onion rings with the boom boom sauce. So I live down the street from this delicious establishment and I had no idea what awaited me here. I originally headed there because I was craving pizza but unfortunately they were out of pizza slices for the night. I have never been happier for a pizza place to be out of pizza. Before I left my apartment, my roommate suggested that I get the Vermonter. At this point, I had no idea what it was other than a sandwich. So when I get to Dough (clean restaurant, quick service and multiple Phish decorations), the kind worker informed me that they were out of pizza slices but since it was my first time, that it was necessary that I try the Vermonter. What is the Vermonter? Well I am not going to tell you in this review but just know its a pleasant surprise that I do not want ruin with apples included.

Ok, so this will start out sounding like a bad review but obviously the stars give it away. My husband and I have been here 4 times collectively for takeout and only once did our order get made correctly. The first time we ordered two pizzas - a cheese pizza and a sausage and onion pizza. We got the sausage and onion, and the other was a fully loaded veggie pizza, which I gladly enjoyed. Unfortunately my husband is "allergic" to veggies and doesn't like onions on pizza so he was bummed. The second screw up - we ordered the R2 pizza and a side of onion rings. We got the R2 and a Backyard BBQ pizza instead - why my husband left the place thinking onion rings are served in a pizza box is for another day. The BBQ pizza was deliciously awesome, but the man love is also "allergic" to BBQ sauce. Awesome. Third screw up was just tonight. I ordered a pizza with pineapple and bacon and got just pineapple. With that said, I've thoroughly enjoyed every screw up order despite the odds of getting what we paid for not being in our favor. The pizza is really good! The one order they did get right included the Eastie Stromboli which I'm told was "unreal good" (the husband is definitely not allergic to Italian deli meats). If not for the continuous screwed up order, this place would get five stars in our house.

LET ME TELL YA 'BOUT THE 2 LARGE PIZZA DEAL. My coworkers and I work around the area so we've been to Dough's for lunch a few times. They have an awesome deal of 2 large cheese pizzas for $17 + tax - enough to feed 5-6 of us (even mix of guys and girls) and leave our bellies full of cheesy goodness. These are thin, flat cheese pizzas with what looks like shredded cheese on top. It's not your typical overall melted cheese like chain pizzas or some other pizza shops. It is almost as if they put cheese on at different times during the cooking process. Don't get me wrong - it is good. Even the lactose intolerant guy said the pizza was yummy so if he's gonna pay for it half an hour from now then the least you could do is give it a shot! The french fries are fresh and evenly cooked. I don't like my french fries soggy or undercooked and these fries were nothing of the sort. Nice golden yellow fry color with an even firm fry crisp. They are probably double the thickness of a McD fry so that's a good size - no shrimpy fries here. They also have a whole menu of sandwiches with interesting names. I haven't tried the sandwiches (~$8) but have heard from others that they are delicious. PB+J is also offered; toasted and with bananas to boot. BOTTOM LINE: SO, if you're in the area and looking for something LUNCH appropriate, then I'd stop by here. If it's a nice day - sunny and warm - take your lunch to the waterfront about 2 blocks away. (That's what we did with the pizza.) There's some benches to sit on and you have an AWESOME VIEW of downtown Boston!

I am a regular at this location and just wanted to share a recent experience. The food was pretty good , however, when I asked to use the bathroom to wash my hands, the lady told me that I could not use it. I'm a big hand washer and the thought that I had to head my sandwich with dirty hands made my sandwich less enjoyable and a little disgusted. The part that bothered me was that I have used it before. Not letting your patrons use the bathroom is really lame and I'm not sure if ill be going there anytime soon.

MMM the Vermonter. I've had you way too many times during the past weeks but what can I say, I'm addicted to you. I'm not a fan of bacon at all but for you, I keep the bacon inside because I would not want to tarnish your identity. Hands down the best sandwich I've ever eaten. I checked Dough out due to a bunch of great Yelp reviews and now I'm addicted. I might renew my apartment lease in September just to stay down the street :/ I tried the Vermonter as most people suggested and every. single. bite. explodes with flavor. Everything was fresh and completely worth the money. The multigrain bread and sundried tomato mayo really make this one stand out. I tried a bite of the Phantom and it was a great, quality sandwich too - but we agreed that mine was the best. The place itself is small and divey from the outside, and was really quiet on a Wednesday night around dinner time. Only a group of 3 others were ordering at the same time, and it sounded like they were only visiting Boston and there for the second night in a row. I think the guy helping us out was the manager, and he was really friendly and laid back (possible Phish head from all the wall art). There was a tray of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies on the counter and I was tempted to buy about 5 but resisted. A ton of Connect Four games and East Boston newspapers littered the tables to pass the time until the orders were up, but it only took about 5-10 minutes total. I'm already daydreaming about what I'll try next. The Cajun Chicken Cheesesteak and a few others caught my eye - hope they can live up to the Vermonter y'all!

This is another East Boston hidden gem. I was able to try 2 (halves) of their sandwiches and their giant soft chocolate chip cookies. The Vermonter - was great, sweet and savory all at once. It is toasted and filled with smoked turkey, gouda, bacon, apples, and the sun dried tomato mayo was what really made the Vermonter shine. Cajun Chicken Cheese Steak - Also another great sandwich. It looked a little boring when I got it but it was loaded with tons of flavor and the perfect amount of spices. It almost reminded me a an Indian style chicken. Fantastic! Don't forget to save room for one of their cookies, they are worth it! I will be back to try their pizza.

Dough is hands down the best sandwich shop I have ever been to. The Curry chicken salad is to die for! I have NEVER had a bad meal. Everything is handmade and made fresh daily. The owner is so happy about his job and he is very personable. 5 stars for a pizza joint from a chick who doesn't eat pizza? Sure, I can't speak for the pies themselves, but Dough East Boston overall is the bees knees. I've never set foot in the restaurant, only came across Dough while searching for some delivery options in my neighborhood on a rainy night and have kept their menu with arms reach for those evenings when a phone call is all I can muster. Friday nights can be slow for delivery, but generally speaking they are efficient. So, brass tacks. The sandwiches are nothing short of brilliant - several kinds of rubens (including a veggie one), options to build your own sandwich, a delicious gobbler, and the signature (and my favorite), the Vermonter. Now, turkey, smoked gouda, red onion, granny smith apple, and sun-dried tomato mayo might sound like flavor overload, but it's sublime and worth every caloric bite. It makes me giddy with excitement, this sandwich. Dough will deliver free in my neighborhood, but they are not open Sundays, a fact I consistently forget until I've already started thinking about which drool-worthy sandwich I want to inhale.

Here's the deal with Dough: I like Dough A LOT, the vermonter does things to me that I probably shouldn't talk about on Yelp. There's a pizza to match one of many many emotional states. Pretty much, I've liked everything that I've ever gotten. Here's the flip side. I JUST called to place an order and this is the SECOND time in a row that I've called for delivery and they've told me that there isn't a delivery person in until blah blah blah. If you don't have steady delivery service, please notate it, either on here or on your website, but please don't get a girl worked up for a meatball sub, just to break her heart.

Yeah that's right. I'm doing the unthinkable and slapping a coveted FIVE STAR review on a pizza joint outside of NYC. And why? Two words: CUBAN Sandwich. They make one. It's incredible. And it's worth another star. Crispy bread, thick slices of pork, thinly sliced ham, tart pickles and just the right amount of mustard. And the portion size? Half a sammie is enough for my lunch and at a mere $7, you can't find a better (or tastier) deal. Again, the fifth star has nothing to do with the pizza. This place has some bad ass sandwiches, too!

I ordered two pies last night. One was a make your own, and the other was a chicken wing pizza. Both were hot and fantastic delivered. I believe the owner delivered the pies. I have tried the cheeseburger Rueben, and also a few other make your own Pizzas - the menu is creative and very good.

So I have been here a few times now but I wanted to wait until I tried the pizza before I submitted my review. First I'm gonna start with the sandwiches. The Vermonter sandwich is probably one of the best sandwiches and I have had some good sandwiches (Pirmanti Bros.). This sandwich has turkey, bacon, gouda, apples, and an awesome sun-dried tomato mayo. The turkey they use is Boar's Head so you know its good quality. Nice thick and crunhy slices of bacon... and apples for that matter. And the mayo is superb, its like putting heroine on a crack sandwich. The other sandwich I had was The Cuban. This is probably the best Cuban in Boston, way better than any of the Cuban restaurants. The pork tenderloin is the all-star of the sandwich though, tender and packed with flavor. Now on to the pizza... easily the strangest pizza I have ever had. I ordered the Orchard pizza. It has chicken, bacon, caramelized onion, and apples, and it f'ing bomb. The onions are used basically as the sauce, then its piled high with chunks of grilled white meat chicken, chopped bacon, and chunks of apples. The crust may be the most interesting part, the only thing it reminds me of is naan, but that aint a bad thing.

It looks unassuming, but this place has the best sandwiches around! They have a really unique sandwich menu with delicious combinations of ingredients. Everything here is made to order. It is clear the owners take real pride in the taste, appearance, and quality of their food. The eating area is neat, with Phish posters on the walls and plenty of newspapers and magazines to read while you wait. It is also very child friendly. The service is always friendly and prompt. All their food is amazing, but their sandwiches are the highlight for me!

Lets start with the only questionable portion of my feedback: I have lived in East Boston for nearly four years, and have often driven by Dough hoping to indulge, however each time i did (after 9pm or on a Sunday) they were closed...the hours are a little too tight for me. Nevertheless, I was glad I remembered all those Phantom Gourmet episodes when I opened the fridge at 7pm this evening and realized I would be dining out. I knew I was heading for Dough, and I knew I had plenty of time! Now the good: The staff was totally cool, very helpful for a first timer, and couldnt be friendlier. I really like that about neighborhood joints, and because of that alone will often return. The menu is exactly what you want in a pizza/sandwich shop. Next level creations of sandwiches I probably would have created on my own back in my college days. The flexibility. These guys lay out the framework, and are totally cool with modifications. I love that. You get my inspiration going with the concept, and let me customize the finish without any arrogance or insult. Awesome. The taste. These sandwiches are, simply put, next level creations. I couldnt endorse a place any more than i endorse Dough. Thanks guys, ill definately be back.

I miss Dough, and i am constantly reminiscing with my husband that the $800 plane ride back to East Boston would be completely worth a Turkey Gobbler, French Dip, Cuban, or any of the other amazing sandwiches there. Some other reviewer called it "sandwich crack" I think that is quite an accurate statement. I can't wait for my October wedding when I'll be back in Boston. You can bet this is a stop on my list. (they lose a star because the pizza isn't near as good)
